Your Questions, Answered

Why see a Dermatologist?

Dermatologists are medical doctors that specialise in diagnosing, treating and preventing conditions of the skin, hair and nails. GPs get limited training on skin problems, and this can be patchy very variable. You should see a Dermatologist if your skin problem is persisting despite seeing your GP, they cannot give you a diagnosis or of you want advice, guidance and preventative strategies about your skin health and ageing. NHS waits for dermatology consultations are lengthy, so a private consultation will get you on the right path to skin health much more quickly and could save you money and distress due to wrong diagnosis and treatment.Every engagement begins with a complimentary consultation where we discuss your goals, review any existing health data, and recommend an approach that fits your lifestyle and budget.

What is the difference between your different consultation types?

Face to face medical consultation: Involves a thorough history taking and examination using a dermatoscope, advice on further investigations, treatment options and private prescription.

Video consultation: Virtual FaceTime consultation offering history taking, remote examination, treatment options and reviews and private prescription.

Aesthetic consultation: This will focus on your aesthetic concerns, thorough skin examination, skin care advice and plan and advice on aesthetic treatments pros and cons. This can be face to face or via video.

Teleconsultation: Remote advice and guidance consultation with a history and images sent via Website form and assessment letter discussing potential diagnosis , investigations and treatments.

What type of consultation is best for me?

Face to face medical consultation: This is the best option if you are a new patient or have an undiagnosed or complex skin problem.

Video consultation: This is a good option for follow up consultations and treatment reviews, if you already have a diagnosis or if you don’t live locally.

Aesthetic consultation: This is compulsory before undertaking any aesthetic treatments or if you want some advice to navigate the skincare industry and get an evidence-base personalised plan.

Teleconsultation: Ideal if you want advice and guidance on a diagnosed skin problem or if you don’t live locally but want to have access to an expert opinion. Alternatively, it can be converted to a face to face consultation if this is more advisable. It can be used to show your GP if a referral is recommended.

How do I pay for my consultation?

A £50 deposit is necessary to secure a booking via bank transfer ( details will be emailed at the time of booking). The remainder of the cost will be due after the consultation on invoice receipt.

Teleconsultation full cost is payable at time of request.
